Fun if Occasionally Frustrating

DK's Mind Benders book looks fancy on the outside and less so on the inside, but that doesn't mean there isn't content. The book contains about a variety of about 50 puzzles, illusions, other tricks that will challenge users mentally and sometimes physically. The content is broken into 12 different categories that test math, verbal, and spatial skills. Each conundrum is answered, though not always in the easiest possible way to comprehend. Some of the puzzles require moving parts of the page which don't actually turn very well, which can be frustrating. Other puzzles are included as extra bits and bobs, so losing any one of those pieces could be problematic, but all were present when the book arrived so I was able to try them. Equal parts fun and frustrating at times, Mind Benders is probably best aimed at adults and older children who can comprehend how to attempt to solve the problems. Great book for anyone who likes solving puzzles.

My third grade son thoroughly enjoyed this book. It has optical illusions, impossible mazes, etc. my son loves to draw, so he is looking forward to applying the images in this book to his artwoek

Terrific Fun for Kids!

This is an amazing book, especially for $20, full of ingeniously presented, interesting puzzles and challenging material for kids. It says it's for ages 7-12, but my six-year-old niece loves it, and I found some of the puzzles enjoyable myself. There are elaborate pop-up things, a container with unconnected objects, and lots of things that move. It tackles not only finding the right answer, but thinking about how to approach and solve problems as well. Highly recommended. It's big and flashy and should make a splash as a gift.
